AM S40 ready-to-use superplasticizer
\nadmixture is based on Sulfonated
\nnaphthalene-formaldehyde. AM S40
\nsuperplasticizers is to produce flowing
\nconcrete with very high slump in the range
\nof 7-9 inches (175-225 mm) to be used in
\nheavily reinforced structures and in
\nplacements where adequate consolidation
\nby vibration cannot be readily achieved.
\nThe other major application is the
\nproduction of high-strength concrete at
\nw\/c’s ranging from 0.3 to 0.4. The capability
\nof these superplasticizers to reduce water
\nrequirements 12-25% without affecting the
\nworkability leads to production of highstrength concrete and lower permeability.
\nCompressive strengths greater than 14,000
\npsi (96.5 MPa) at 28 days have been
\nattained. The slump loss problem can be
\novercome by adding the admixture to the
\nconcrete just before the concrete is placed.
